5 top road trips in the world...
Our Big Sur scent is inspired by our favourite road trip – down California’s Route 1 highway. An exhilarating, breath-taking journey where the forest meets the ocean. But it’s not the only road trip worth taking. Here are our top 5 picks for when you just feel the need to start your engines and hit the road…
North Coast 500, Scotland
Scotland’s answer to Route 1 is a beautiful, remote expanse of road covering a loop of over 500 miles of wild highlands and rugged coast. The most iconic and hair-raising stretch is possibly the Bealach na Bà, a winding single track down to the Applecross peninsula.
Sea to Sky Highway, Canada
Starting at sea-level in Vancouver, this 254 mile trip will take you to the ‘sky’ of Whistler’s awe inspiring mountains 670 metres above sea. Highway 99 (as it is officially known) is famous for stunning viewpoints that pepper the rise and rise of the road.
The Red Centre Way, Australia
Channel your inner Priscilla, Queen of the Desert for this dusty drive, the very epitome of remote. A loop from Alice Springs, with red earth as far as the eye can see, it takes in King Canyon, the West Macdonnell ranges and the world famous Uluru rock.
Hana Highway, Hawaii
64 miles of Maui’s waterfalls, lush tropical rainforests, along cliff-edges that are not for the fainthearted. Make sure to stop for the Wailua Falls.
The Atlantic Ocean road, Norway
Known as the ‘road in the ocean’, this road was opened in 1989 and consists of seven bridges that allows the road to connect with the islands of northern Norway. Described by many as looking like a bridge that has ‘melted’ or a snake-like creature, the curving, rising, twisting stretch of road is 5 miles in length and connects the beautiful archipelago, including Geitøya and Lyngholmen.
